Do I Need a Visa for Thailand?
Visas are not required for stays under 30 days in Thailand. Longer stays do require a visa and business travelers must have a visa. Yellow fever vaccination may be required for some travelers.

What Do I Need for a Thailand Visa Application?
If you are planning to stay in Thailand for under 30 days a visa is not required. But, you should have a passport and proof of onward travel for entry.
If you are planning on staying for more than 30 days, a visa is required. The application process and documents needed may differ depending on the type of visa you’re interested in obtaining.

When applying for a Thailand Tourist Visa, you need a passport, photograph, proof of travel, bank statement, and the actual application itself.
Each one of these items have specific requirements that must be met.
Passport:
- Be valid for the next six months
- Contain at least two consecutive blank visa pages for the visa stamp
Photograph:
- Taken within the last three months and printed on high-quality photo paper
- Taken against an all white background
- Be two inches by two inches
- Provide the full frontal view of your head with neutral expression
Proof of Travel:
- Ticket or itinerary that displays your round trip travel and entry and exit dates for your destination
- Show the traveler’s full name as printed on passport
Bank Statement:
- Name indicated clearly
- Single person must have $700, family must have $1,500
Passport:

Letter of Invitation:
- From associated company in Thailand
- States length of stay
Letter Approval (if stay is over 15 days):
- From Ministry of Labor
- Company in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration

How Much Do Thailand Visas Cost?
Visa fees for Thailand can vary based on length of stay and number of entries. It is not uncommon for visa fees to be $200 or more. This does not include the cost of service fees, postage or other related items that are no the visa itself.

Are Any Vaccines Required for Thailand?
Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from a region where yellow fever is present. This may also apply to individuals who have recently visited a region with the infection.
A variety of other vaccinations are recommended for travelers. These include typhoid, cholera and other vaccinations.

All U.S. citizens visiting Thailand should register with the STEP program before their trip. This State Department program provides extra information and support in case of emergency. Passport Health’s travel documents staff can assist you in registering.
