Yellow fever is a risk in Liberia and the CDC recommends the vaccination. In fact, in order to enter the country you must provide proof of a yellow fever vaccination to the government. There is a risk you may come across contaminated food and water. Mosquitoes are common in Liberia as well. Therefore, the CDC highly encourages most travelers receive vaccinations for hepatitis A and typhoid fever and take medication for malaria.
Though Liberia has been officially declared Ebola free, there are still some side effects to consider. Though a measles epidemic has not yet happened in the country, there is a fear that one could take place because of the Ebola outbreak. If you have not already received a measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination, it is recommended for travel to West Africa. All other routine vaccinations are also recommended including tetanus, pertussis and flu.
